In this class, students will develop a story, then collectively design and create puppet characters to perform it using the Japanese puppetry art called Bunraku. Bunraku puppets dominate the stage; they draw us into a special world of make-believe unmatched by any other form of puppetry! Students will learn to control these expressive puppets, which take at least three people each, and their creations will perform a final presentation on the last day of class!
